OUR MISSION
To create an outdoor learning space that positively impacts the planet by focusing on native plants and native pollinators so that students can fall in love with nature and become the next generation of environmental stewards.
J.L. In the News...
The J.L. Jungle applied for a garden grant from the Shaw Community Week's Classroom Champions. As a result, our little garden made big news in the District News Letter... https://www.surreyschools.ca/NewsEvents/Posts/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=1075
We also are a part of the Learning for a Sustainable Future's EcoLeague "Our Canada" Project! Here we are: ourcanadaproject.ca/place/native-pollinator-garden-2/
J.L. Jungle is officially a part of the David Suzuki Foundation's Butterflyway Project (https://davidsuzuki.org/take-action/act-locally/butterflyway/)! Very exciting news. Below is a picture of our mini-write-up on Facebook. I love the comments for that post. It really acknowledges all of our hard work! Thank you to all of the Summer volunteers! We couldn't have done it without you! www.facebook.com/ButterflywayMapleRidgePittMeadowsMissionBeyond
J.L. Jungle received a wonderfully generous donation which allowed us to buy more garden planter boxes. This was all possible because of the amazing Christmas light display put on by the Walker family. Check out their article in the Surrey Leader: https://www.surreynowleader.com/community/south-surrey-rudolph-friends-display-to-light-up-this-weekend/
And although this was not directly related to the school garden, Ms. L still brought pride to our school environmentalists by volunteering to dig up the invasive plant species, Himalayan Blackberry, at White Rock Beach: https://greenteamscanada.ca/2021/05/30/west-beach-may-29-2021/
